HORMONE OPTIMIZATION

Test Chem (1).png

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is not just for women. While it’s true that men don’t experience the same dramatic hormonal shift in midlife as women typically do, after age 30, their testosterone levels start to gradually decline. Chronic health conditions, such as obesity and type 2 diabetes, can also cause a testosterone decline. More than a third of men over the age of 45 are estimated to have low testosterone (“Low-T”), but it can occur at younger ages, too. When it’s severe, it can change how you function and feel across all areas of your life.

WHAT IS HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY?

Testosterone levels can decrease as men age. This decline typically begins around age 30 and can result in a variety of symptoms including fatigue, decreased sex drive, erectile problems, weight gain and difficulties with exercising and muscle gains, among others. Although many people think of testosterone as a sex hormone, it is much more complicated than that, and is essential for normal male body development and function. As the primary male hormone, testosterone is critical for sexual health, muscle maintenance, exercise performance, mood and bone density. Testosterone is almost entirely produced in the testes, but the process depends on chemical signals from the brain’s pituitary gland and other support systems throughout the body. Problems or changes in the pituitary gland, the testes, or any of these other support systems can severely disrupt testosterone production. Low Testosterone in men is most commonly addressed by prescribing synthetic testosterone to the patient by way of injection, topical creams, pellets, or oral supplements. However, what this method fails to address are the other possible deficiencies that may be present in the patient's body.

In addition to low testosterone levels, low levels of growth hormone is a condition that is frequently undiagnosed and untreated amongst men. As men age, the production of growth hormone decreases, negatively affecting various aspects of their life such as losing fat, building lean muscle mass, maintaining skin and joint health, and staying energized.

Unfortunately, many men remain unaware of how this hormonal imbalance affects their lives until it is addressed and corrected. Due to various misconceptions and concerns surrounding Growth Hormone Therapy, many men hesitate to seek treatment.

At Pinnacle Performance Health & Wellness, we aim to clarify these misconceptions and provide reliable information about safe treatment options. We believe that the only approach to hormone optimization is a collective one by addressing every deficiency in the body, not just testosterone. The first step in this collective approach is getting a full and comprehensive snapshot of what is going on inside of the patient's body. This is accomplished through bloodwork consisting of a number of bio-markers that has been assembled by our medical team in collaboration with LabCorp. With these labs, our medical team will be able to look at those specific bio-markers to see where and how we can work to get the patient operating at at their very peak.

WHAT ARE SYMPTOMS OF LOW-T?

A man who is suffering from low levels of testosterone may experience some or all of the following symptoms:

  • Reduced sex drive

  • Difficulty achieving or sustaining an erection

  • Decrease in muscle mass

  • Increase in body fat

  • Difficulty building muscle

  • Low energy and stamina

  • Bad mood or irritability

  • Loss of body and/or facial hair

  • Motivation or focusing difficulties

  • Poor sleep quality

As a man's testosterone levels continue to fall, these symptoms could become more pronounced or worsen.

CAN HORMONE OPTIMIZATION HELP ME?

Testosterone is what makes a man a man. It’s what builds muscle, puts hair on his body, and is the primary driver behind his sex drive. When testosterone levels start to dip, men can notice some symptoms that can be negatively impactful to his life. Many times, when younger men experience hypogonadism, there are other things at play that can be causing testosterone levels to decline, including both physical and environmental causes. Injury, obesity, stress, illness, and disease can all contribute to lower testosterone in men. Previous misuses of testosterone can also contribute.
